★Please Pardon My Wordage, Friends ★

this kitchen reno has been H*E*{double tooth picks} l*l*!!
...and it's still NOT done!

Hello Friends~
I hope you've all had an enjoyable week!
This is sorta a long post...hope ya'll stick with me till the end :)

First of all....

I know, I keep griping about this weather we've been having, and I know complaining won't change it......but this is just CRAAAAAAAAAZY! I mean WA is having a flippin heat wave and before that they had a 30 day DRY SPELL....and we're getting low 70's (some days we've not even been lucky enough to hit that) and RAIN-RAIN-RAIN....It's like I've moved back to Seattle!!
I didn't liked it the first time...the weather, I mean!

no offense Seattle friends :)

Whatta Bummer Summer!

I am finally getting around to sharing some pictures of the kitchen!!

We still aren't finished, but we are just wiped out and totally exhausted. We are at the point where it's mostly "cosmetic" finish work now...Crown molding on the wall cabinets, base trim and window trim...new dining room doors and trim....and little knit picky stuff, like painting the recessed light covers, painting the chairs (black)...building the pantry units...we still have the old frig sitting in here, haven't gotten that moved yet, and I have to use my old tall wall cabinet for a make-do pantry for now...so that end of the kitchen won't be photographed and shown yet!!

So- other than all that little time consuming, finish work, we are, for the most part...done... or as done as it's gonna be for a while...anyway!

I love how the chimney turned out...I'm thinkin I mighta been a bricklayer in my past life! ;)

I L-O-V-E my faucet!

I see in this issue of CS, Linda Harris...has these same faucets in her BEAUTIFUL kitchen!

(they look like mine anyways, from what I can tell in the photo)

Its hard to find black faucets....really hard!

Her home is Spectacular BTW, didn't ya just love it??!!

Pineapples, big ones, little ones (even one in the cabinet).... I love pineapples ;)

I can't wait to get some shelves above the windows,

Flooring, hickory planks...adds to the Olde look -in a new kitchen-that I was tryin for...[this is laminate], I have 3 big dogs and no time for scratches on wood floors...prim-look or not...I don't do scratches! ;)

Can't wait to get rid of these naked walls...

The door ya see in the pic above, that's the basement door, it will be "aged" when I get around to it.

this is just a small breakfast bar, off the cook top area, just the right size for me and Steve to grab a quick bite, rather than eat in the dining room...we just eat here when it's only us two here.

Blacken Tin Light fixtures above cook top
these actually came on a chain, we took the chain off and added a drop instead, with the fan there, I didn't want it the light to move...I think it looks great, and I'll bet no one will even notice that we made that change, the matching light above the island still has the chain...as does the light above the sink.

where you see the pine trim on the top wall cabinets, that's where the crown molding will go...
I don't know if you can see it very well, but the frig cabinet has the crown up already

Chairs will be black-eventually :) and trim still needs to go around the entry to the family room
on the other side of the doorway you see, is the other end of my kitchen, where my double pantry will be and there is also another window.

Sink base juts out and has "legs" I will try to get a better pic of that later. we ordered the regular/standard sink base, and made it this way ourselves...just built it out from the wall and purchased one "leg" and cut it length wise and added build outs to it...It turned out awesome! SAVES A LOTA $$ doin it this way too.

I really didn't get good pics of the cabinets. Sorry...

these prim pears and napkins and star-rings were a gift from Debbie at
~Country Gatherings~
she also sent me two little plates I have on my window sill one says Dream and other says Faith
thanks, Deb I love 'em!

Wall oven unit and Frig unit go all the way to the ceiling...I wanted height and depth...so I figured my cabinets at different heights and different depths.

big deep sills, plenty of room to hold a large crock, love that!

I went with the wall mount fan, rather than a ceiling fan...I am so happy with it!

gathering I have displayed atop the prep island and I am goin with tobacco cloth window treatments on both end windows, this end I just stuck up on a tension rod temporarily until the trim goes up...don't kn0w yet what I will dress out the window above the sink with...

I thought I got a better pic of this, but I guess I didn't....
oh yeah I did... it's way back towards the beginning of the post, I think,
and I am too lazy to move it down here...blogger doesn't cooperate for me and it's getting late, way past my bed time So I'm just leaving up there!
...anyway the cabinet between the wall oven and the cook top, Steve made, it wasn't part of the ordered cabinets...I wanted a bigger space between the cook top and the wall oven so he built and finished it to match the other black cabinets... I have my bowls displayed there... I love it and I'm so happy we made that change!

below pic is my steppin stool, another re-do I managed to get done.
I have my late summer gathering on it..dried hydrangea, faux apples and some Old Hard Cider in a Jug :)

mom got me the crock that my rolling pins are in, thanks mom, love it!! the bowl and spoon in the second shelf down, are a re-do...I will post pics of that in and some other re-dos I've done in another post!

I am very happy with how this turned out. It's so hard to make a "new kitchen" look "old" especially when I wanted SS appliances, but with adding the olde worn brick and the pewter here and there and aging the wood work, I think it came together pretty well....or will come together when it's finally DONE!
I love everything about it, mostly I love that we DOUBLED the size of the kitchen, my old kitchen was so tiny....

Once it gets all decorated it will look a lot better...

Steve did an awesome job, didn't he?!
I think we are a pretty darn good team...
I "saw it" and he made it "real" :)
Oh...that sounded too EASY............believe me...it wasn't!!
This renovation was H*E*{double tooth picks}l*l* on both of us...
but when I stand here now, and look at it, I feel like I'm standing in my own little piece of HEAVEN--and it was all worth it! ;)
...Now if I can only learn how to cook! hehehe!

That's it for now!

I will post more pics once I start getting the walls decorated and once we get the "finish" work "finished" :) This has been one loooooong reno, huh??

Thanks for hangin in there with me...and thanks to my special bloggin' buds who sent me the wonderful prim "kitchen warming" gifts! They added such a warm & special touch to my kitchen ;)

Have a Wonderful Weekend, everyone!
Thanks for stoppin by...
